  • Minturn

The town is one of the oldest in the area, being incorporated in 1904. It was originally a railroad town that ended up attracting passersby from all over the nation — and world — to eventually live here. To this day, the town reflects the unique and eclectic feel that comes from bringing together people from diverse locations. While other areas more than double their population in the summer months, Minturn’s stability gives it a real small-town feel. But more than that, the homes are often quite colorful (literally) and they take pride in some of the quirky architecture you’ll see driving down their streets. The best way to describe the typical house would be split-level mountain cabin, but homes tend to have a distinct look. The Minturn Saloon is the longest-running restaurant in the entire Vail Valley, being in business since 1901 and earning nationwide praise, even from publications such as the NY Times.
